The Silo district in the V&A Waterfront has enjoyed wide-spread publicity with both local and foreign investors keeping a close eye on new developments in Cape Town and opportunities for both residential and commercial property.

Overall, the final phase of the Silo district’s redevelopment in the V&A Waterfront is on track for completion early 2017, with the area already being home to the highly acclaimed Silo No1 and No2 developments housing the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) and Allan Gray’s Cape Town-based headquarters respectively.

Pioneering sustainability in Africa

With sustainability being a primary focus of the entire development, the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) is working closely with the developers in the V&A Waterfront to ensure future efforts continue from Silo No.1’s status as “the only South African building to receive a 6-star ‘as built’ rating”. Furthermore, No.2 Silo has recently been awarded best residential development nationwide by the South African Property Owner’s Association (SAPOA).

This new development in Cape Town is being developed by renowned developer Growthpoint Properties.

The Silo grain complex in the V&A Waterfront will consist of roughly 35000m 2 of mixed-use space which will include:

  • No. 3 Silo – a residential development of approximately 10 000m2 consisting of 75 premium one to four bedroom apartments due for completion late 2016.
  • No. 4 Silo – a state of the art Virgin Active Health club of roughly 4000m2, rumoured to become the company’s premier gym in South Africa.
  • No. 5 Silo – bespoke commercial property / office space to rent of roughly 13 500m due for completion by mid-2016.
